Homemade Yogurt Recipe

by admin 03 Jan 2021
FRESH, THICK & CREAMY INDIAN STYLE YOGURT

Nothing Beats Homemade Food!

Believe it or not, making a rich, thick and creamy home made yogurt is not only easy, but takes less than 10 mins to make! The home made Indian yogurt recipe is super easy to nail, satisfaction guaranteed and once you get into a habit of making it at home, you're not just going to have a healthier homemade diet, but you'd also save the extra you spend on yogurts in supermarkets.

Given that this quick home cooking tip can save you the time and money when shopping, you must give it a try and leave us a comment if you're happy with our recipe. Your feedback helps others make a decision!

01. 1 Cup Full Cream Milk

Put one full cup of full cream milk in a heavy bottomed vessel.

02. 2 Tablespoon Full Cream Milk Powder

This step is optional! You can add upto 2 tbsp of milk powder to your milk to make it thicker and creamier. If you want it light, you can completely skip this step or add less.

03.Stir Well

Give your mixture a good stir. Make sure that the milk powder has completely dissolved in the milk with no lumps.

04. 7 Cups Full Cream Milk

Brought to you from the heart of Malabar, the Keralan Prawn Dish is a well seasoned curry cooked primarily in a coconut curry along with the richness of Indian Spices. This curry is very rich in flavours and goes well with steamed white rice.

05. Boil Medium Flame

Boil the milk on a medium flame, ensuring that you stir occasionally.

06. Simmer 2 Minutes

Once the milk comes to a boil, simmer it for 2 mins. This helps the curd (yogurt) to get creamier.

07. Turn Off Flame

Now turn off the flame of the stove and leave it there to cool slightly. I'd estimate 5 mins.

08.Transfer Milk

Transfer the milk to another vessel where you'd want your curd to set. You can use the same vessel if you'd like! The vessel can be of any material i.e. steel, ceremic, clay etc. I like to use clay.

09. Half Tsp Curd

Now stir in 1/2 (half) teaspoon of left over yogurt to the lukewarm milk.

10. 8 Hours Cool

Time to cover and leave the curd in a warm place to set. An oven is often a good place to leave your yogurt to set. Of course, do not turn the oven on!

11. Set Well

After about 8 hours, your milk would be all set and ready to eat!

12. Tip!

If you're after thick & creamy curd, refrigerate the yogurt for 2 hours before serving.
