As somebody who was born and brought up in India, for the longest time I had no clue that Chinese food that we get in India was different than the actual Chinese food available all around the world. It was very difficult and shocking for me to accept the fact that the Schezwan Noodles and fried rice that I used to hog were unique to India and that Desi Chinese food could not be savoured anywhere else in the world, and I am sure, I am not alone in this!

So if you crave Indo-Chinese food as much as I do, here is some jugaad I have found that helps me feel like I am back home!

Ingredients

  • 2 Green Chillis
  • 100g/1 small bowl of chopped Spring Onion
  • 1 chopped Red Onion
  • 1/2 Capsicum
  • 5 tbsp chopped Cabbage
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 2 cakes from Ching’s Schezwan Noodles Pack
  • 3 tbsp Ching’s Schezwan Sauce
  • Bikaji’s Manchurian Balls (as per liking)

Process:

For The Schezwan Noodles:

  1.  Take a pan and add oil to it
  2. After this oil becomes a bit hot, add the chopped green chilli and ginger garlic paste to it and saute for some time till the colour of the paste changes.
  3. Now, add your onions, carrots, spring onions, capsicum and cabbage and stir fry all these veggies.
  4. Pour some water and lightly stir the pot
  5. Open your Ching’s Schezwan Noodles Pack and empty it into the same pan.
  6. Allow your noodles to cook and after they are done, add a generous amount of Ching’s Schezwan Sauce to it depending on your taste preferences.
  7. Your noodles are ready! Keep them aside.

For Manchurian Balls:

  1. Empty your Manchurian Balls from Bikaji and pop them into the microwave for a minute or fry them in a pan
  2. Toss these Manchurian Balls into your pan that has your schezwan noodles and enjoy!

And that’s it! You can now have your Desi Chinese food fix, whenever, wherever.

We hope you like our recipe and unleash your potential of mixing and matching food items like we here at Tales of India do 🙂
